Your honor,
It has come to my attention that you have not only violated the Constitution by jailing Chelsea Manning in order to try to force her to testify against Assange but you have also put in place fines for her incarceration that are excessive.
By incarcerating Chelsea, after she already served and provided her evidence in her first trial, it is as though you are intending to try her again. Any evidence you need would be provided in the previous trial. To me, this looks like a case of double jeopardy.
Secondly, according to the 8th amendment:
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”
The excessive fines you have imposed are very cruel punishment. She cannot afford these fines and she has already lost what little she had. I implore you to drop these fines. Is it not hard enough that she is being punished for standing up for principles and her rights as an American citizen? Is it not enough that while incarcerated for 7 years she was tortured? This appears to be about vengeance, nit upholding the law.
Do what you have vowed to do and uphold the law and the Constitution.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Address to contact Judge Anthony Trenga
