Why You Should Not Vote for Jeremy Hunt for Prime Minister

To anyone who supports Assange in the United Kingdom, please for the love of God, don’t vote this man in. His hypocrisy knows no bounds. According to CBS News in an interview with Jeremy Hunt:

The U.K.’s top diplomat said he would not stand in the way of Julian Assange’s extradition to the U.S., a move the Justice Department has requested since the WikiLeaks founder was expelled from the Ecuadorian embassy in London and arrested by British authorities in April.

Pressed on the U.S. government’s extradition request for Assange, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, one of the high-profile Conservative politicians vying to replace outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May, expressed no sympathy for Assange and said he would not block an extradition if he was chosen to lead the British government.

“Well, we would have to follow our own legal processes, just as the U.S. has to follow its own legal processes,” Hunt told “Face the Nation” Sunday. “But would I want to stand in the way of Julian Assange facing justice? No, I would not.”

Recently, Hunt gave a speech on the virtues of free speech and how he supports them. One moment, he is defending journalists who expose government corruption and the next he is supporting the torture of a journalist. According to Caitlin Johnstone’s article seen here:

After news broke that UN Special Rapporteur on torture Nils Melzer had found that Julian Assange has been the victim of psychological torture for years, Hunt, who is gunning to become the UK’s next Prime Minister, accused him of interfering in British affairs and making “inflammatory statements”.

“This is wrong,” Hunt tweeted. “Assange chose to hide in the embassy and was always free to leave and face justice. The UN Special Rapporteur should allow British courts to make their judgements without his interference or inflammatory accusations.”

“With all due respect, Sir: Mr Assange was about as ‘free to leave’ as a someone sitting on a rubber boat in a shark pool,” Melzer replied. “As detailed in my formal letter to you, so far, UK courts have not shown the impartiality and objectivity required by the rule of law.”

Asked about concerns raised by United Nations officials about Assange’s imprisonment and possible extradition, Hunt said what has has happened to the Wikileaks founder in recent weeks is the “right thing.”

“Julian Assange is someone who is alleged to have committed some very serious crimes, alleged to have led to people’s deaths,” he added. “And so it is absolutely right that he faces justice, and he has no more reason to escape justice than anyone else who is alleged to have committed crimes.”

This man has never educated himself on what is going on with Assange or has actually read up on Assange, so what else is he not up to date on? He also disagrees with the U.N. special rapporteur, Nils Melzer, on Assange’s treatment and obviously thinks it’s okay to torture him. See the following tweets.

The speech Hunt gave congratulating himself on his free speech values was 29 hours apart from the tweet regarding Assange. So the real question I ask you is, what else is he being hypocritical about? How many policies does he claim to uphold that he has no intention of following through on? Can you trust me?

Instead of campaigning in the United Kingdom, he seems to be doing a “job interview” for Trump in the United States. Then there is this article from Court House News that shows Hunt is lying through his teeth in his CBS statement about alleged deaths:

Military Fails to Link Leaks With Any Deaths

FT. MEADE, Md. (CN) – The largest intelligence leak in U.S. history, disclosed by Pfc. Bradley Manning to WikiLeaks, did not lead to the deaths of any military sources, the government’s first sentencing witness testified Wednesday.

The military’s position took another hit Wednesday, as the former brigadier general who headed the Information Review Task Force investigating the leaks said that he had never heard that a source named in the Afghan war logs was killed.
Though the Taliban had claimed that its review of the war logs led them to an Afghan whom the U.S. military named as a source, the supposed informant the Taliban claimed to have executed was not in fact named in the leaked materials.

The retired general added that some of these contacts could not be found, others had died before the WikiLeaks disclosures, and others had been insurgents rather than cooperators with coalition forces.

Two weeks after Jeremy Hunt became Foreign Minister, he made this statement about Assange:

The statement itself is an example of hypocrisy.

It appears that Jeremy Hunt:

  • only loves journalists when they defend the elite
  • supports the torture of a journalist who doesn’t support the elite
  • will lie on demand
  • is a hypocrite

Anyone who is this dishonest does not belong being the Prime Minister, though he definitely fits the definition of a politician. He “looks forward” to welcoming Donald Trump this week as it appears he is hoping to suck up to the American President to gain support.

Jeremy Hunt should not be elected because he is a hypocritical liar. We have enough of those leading our governments in this world, the U.K. should take a firm stand and deny this man any right to rule.
